PLAYER OF THE WEEKKacey Knobloch, James MadisonSenior | Attack | Moorestown, N.J. / MoorestownNo. 11 James Madison collects Player of the Week honors for the fourth-consecutive week with Knobloch earning this week’s award following a three-peat by Isabella Peterson. Knobloch tallied three goals in the first half and added five assists on the day as JMU ran off an 18-goal run in an 18-2 win over Elon on Saturday. The five assists and eight points were career-highs for Knobloch, who surpassed 100 career points in the victory. DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEKShannon Boyle, HofstraGraduate Student | Defense | Huntington, N.Y. / St. Anthony’sBoyle corralled a career-best four caused turnovers while adding four draw controls, two ground balls, and one assist in Hofstra’s 16-11 win over Delaware on Wednesday. The graduate student from Long Island helped the Pride even its CAA record at 1-1 with the highest caused turnover total by a Hofstra player this season. RICHMOND, Va. (Mar. 28, 2022) – The Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) has announced its men’s lacrosse weekly award winners following the final week of non-conference play. Drexel’s Max Semple earned CAA Player of the Week honors, while Hofstra’s Kane Gerard received CAA Rookie of the Week accolades. PLAYER OF THE WEEKMax Semple, DrexelRedshirt Freshman | Attack | Coquitlam, B.C., Canada / CentennialSemple recorded a career-high eight points on seven goals and one assist in Drexel’s contest against Robert Morris. The seven goals were also a career-best and are the most scored in a single game by a CAA player this season. The attackman added four ground balls, and one caused turnover in the effort. Semple’s finally tally tied the game at 14 with 1:38 remaining in the contest, but the Dragons suffered a 15-14 setback. Semple ranks third in the CAA, averaging 3.14 goals per game, and has tallied three or more four times this spring. ROOKIE OF THE WEEKGerard Kane, HofstraSophomore | Attack | Suwanee, Ga. / LambertKane set new career-highs for assists and points with five and six, respectively, in Hofstra’s overtime battle with Providence. The five assists are tied for the most by a CAA player in a game this season, and it marks his second performance with at least four assists. The attackman added one goal and two ground balls in the effort despite the Pride falling 10-9 in the contest. Kane extended his goal-scoring streak to six games, while he has at least three points four times this season. The attacker from Maryland notched three goals and five draw controls in JMU’s win over No. 19 Richmond on Wednesday before collecting six goals and seven draws in Sunday’s victory at No. 14 Virginia. For the week, Peterson tallied nine goals, 12 draw controls, two ground balls, and a caused turnover as JMU climbed back up to No. 15 in this week’s ILWomen/IWLCA poll.
